One of the things that I’ve always loved about Arlington are the parks. The sheer number and variety of parks in Arlington is awesome, including some great parks built specifically for our four-legged friends! There are eight dog parks in Arlington, each offering a unique place for man’s best friend to run and socialize. These are my 4 personal favorites:
-

Shirlington Dog Park – This is one of the most popular dog parks in Arlington, due to the fact that there’s a stream to play in! It’s a great place for you and your dogs to come cool off in the summer time, and there are always plenty of furry friends for your dog to splash around with.
- Benjamin Banneker Park – This park holds a special place in my heart. It is where I spent a lot of time with my two labs Murphy and Malley. The really nice thing about this park is it’s out of the way, and generally less crowded than the other parks in Arlington. If you have a dog that prefers to just run and chase balls, this is a great park for them!

- James Hunter Park – Located near Clarendon, this is another very popular park with a water fountain that dogs can swim in! The area to run around is relatively small, and there is little natural grass. So if you have a dog that loves to run and run and run, this might not be the best park for them. But for swimming and socializing, this park is hard to beat!
- Glencarlyn Park – This is another park with a stream for dogs to play in, but it also has a unique feature that the other dog parks in Arlington lack – There is a nice hiking trail that you can take your dogs on. A great place for both dogs and owners to get out and get a little exercise!

Arlington is an awesome place to own a dog, and the city is very dog friendly in the way they have built and continue to maintain these facilities for our furry friends.
