Making the Most of Your Outdoor Living Spaces

When I think of summertime, I think of backyard barbeques, and starry nights around a bonfire. And apparently I’m not alone: Over the past few years, contractors have seen an increase in demand from clients for usable outdoor living spaces. People want to be able to take advantage of the good weather, to grill and have family dinners outside on a nice evening. Here are a couple outdoor design trends that help bring comfort and convenience to the great outdoors:

1) Built-in grills- A must-have for serious chefs, built-in grills are a more attractive and permanent alternative to the old grill on wheels. Built-in grills provide much needed space both over the fire, and around it. They have a larger grilling surface than your standard propane or charcoal roll-off, and just as importantly, more prep space. If you’re tired of trying to balance a bunch of plates on the small side panels that are attached to your gas grill, you’ll love the space and convenience a built-in grill setup provides. Another big advantage of built-in setups is that you can get your contractor to hook up a natural gas line to the grill itself, and never have to worry about running out of propane again.

2) Outdoor fireplaces- Nothing’s better on a crisp fall night than sitting outside by a fire, sipping on a glass of wine and breathing in the fall air. Lately, many homeowners have been upgrading from old, messy firepits to outdoor fireplaces. They offer a visually appealing, permanent way to bask in the warm glow of roaring fire a chilly evening. Outdoor fireplaces are easy to attractively incorporate into a patio or screen porch design At the end of the day, making your backyard you love to call home is all about what works for you. Whether you’re looking for a place to entertain, or a sanctuary from the outside world, these design trends for outdoor living spaces are a great place to start thinking and dreaming!
